Lesson 18 – Part 3
We often pray to God for material things, to prosper our affairs, to heal the body, or to bring us the perfect mate. And when we don’t get results, we feel forsaken and doubt whether the spiritual way of life really works. It works, but our error was in asking, praying, for a change in the effect, thus disregarding the false thinking that produced the negative effect in the first place. Instead of asking God to fix our bank account and body or bring a soulmate to our door, we should ask and meditate for a healing of consciousness so that we may perceive reality rather than the error-illusion.
What would Jesus say about that situation calling for your attention? He would tell you that the gifts of God have been given and need only be accepted. The gifts of God are life, love, joy, and peace -harmony and divine order – and faith in only the absolute goodness of life. And he would remind you that it is your mind that translates these gifts into form and experience when you are focused on the truth of you, on the heavenly realm of cause within and not on the miscreated world of effects.
